Method

Single-cell RNA-seq, single-cell ATAC-seq, and high-resolution Hi-C were applied to pancreatic islets and sorted pancreatic acinar, alpha, and beta cells in order to discover cell type-specific gene regulation and to map variant-to-gene-by-cell type relationships for sentinel SNPs significantly associated with type 2 diabetes in the DIAMANTE (European) T2D GWAS study (Mahajan et al., 2018) and their LD proxy SNPs (r2 > 0.8).
