Experiment summary

This study analyzed genetic associations with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA), in 2,634 LADA cases vs. 5,947 control subjects. LADA was defined by an age at diagnosis older than 20, 30, or 35 years, with some cohorts restricting the upper age limit to 70 years; the presence of diabetes-associated autoimmune autoantibodies, in particular GAD autoantibody (GADA) positivity; and the lack of insulin requirement for 6 months or 1 year after diagnosis. In some case subjects, C-peptide level was also used as a filter.
