Experiment summary

This study analyzed genetic associations for rapid decline of estimated glomerular filtration rate in individuals from the Chronic Kidney Diseases Genetics Consortium and UK Biobank. Rapid decline of eGFR was defined by two formulas:

  • CKDi25: eGFRcrea decline of 25% or more and eGFRcrea under 60 mL/min/1.73m2 at follow-up among those with eGFRcrea 60 mL/min/1.73m2 or more at baseline; 19,901 cases and 175,244 controls
  • Rapid3: eGFR decline of 3 mL/min/1.73m2/year or more, in 34,874 cases and 107,090 controls
